Gordon Ackley is an entrepreneur with a broad telecommunications background. He has over 27 years of telecommunications experience in the Caribbean as owner/operator of various businesses bringing leading-edge technology to the territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Gordon specialized in Communications and Navigation and Electronic Warfare from 1973 until 1977. In 1977, he founded Ackley Caribbean Enterprises, Inc. Ackley Caribbean Enterprises operated the USVI's first FAA-Certified Avionics Repair Station at the Harry S. Truman Airport. Gordon then created the USVI's first wide-area radio dispatch and mobile phone SMR trunking system. Ackley Caribbean Enterprises also offered a territory-wide digital alphanumeric paging system.  He then formed Computer World, LLC retail operations to provide sales, service, networking and training in the computer industry, which he sold to one of its managers a few years later.

Shortly thereafter, Gordon started VIAccess, the largest Internet Service Provider in the territory of the USVI.  VIAccess began offering the USVI's first wireless digital subscriber line (WDSL) wireless wide-area network, providing up to 3-Megabit service to the people of the USVI.  Gordon then sold VIAccess internet operations, and paging and SMR operations, collectively known as "Wireless World", to Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc. (AMEX symbol: ANK)

Most recently, Gordon developed a microwave backbone network with Crown Castle, connecting the U.S. Virgin Islands to Puerto Rico, and offering bandwidth to commercial consumers.

Gordon owns and operates 8 co-location tower facilities in the territory. He also owns two FM Broadcast stations in the U.S. Virgin Islands and three FM Broadcast stations in the British Virgin Islands.  Additionally, he is the owner and operator of Pirate's Cove Marina in St. Thomas.
